Michelle Pollak Landwehr
Owner and Founder
Michelle Pollak Landwehr is the founder and owner of a small, independent indoor play and learning space in Kirkland, Wash., Roo’s World of Discovery. She has worked in public relations for more than 16 years – both as an agency director and an independent consultant for clients in the healthcare and technology spaces – and currently provides strategic PR consulting for select clients. Michelle holds a B.A. in public communication from American University in Washington, D.C. She lives in Kirkland.
Joanna (Jojo) Elder
Jojo has been with Roo’s World of Discovery since November 2016, as our assistant manager. She has many years experience as a nanny, a preschool teacher, and as a mom. She lives in Bothell with her daughter.
Daniela has a passion for children’s learning and care, especially for the Montessori Method, which approach supports the natural development of children in a well-prepared environment. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Education and Pedagogy from The University of Vale Do Pariba in Brazil and a Montessori Certification from The German Montessori Association. She spent six years at The Monaddrei Montessori Kinderhaus und Schule in Germany. Daniela believes children learn simply by living, from their experiences and environment. Her role as a teacher is to observe each child, acknowledging and respecting their sensitive periods and needs, implementing materials and tools to facilitate their learning autonomy and positive self-esteem from birth. Born in Brazil, Daniela lived in Germany for many years before moving to Washington in 2014. She lives with her husband and 19-month old son, Thomas. They speak three languages at home – Portuguese, German and English, and sometimes Spanish.
